(Los Angeles, CA) – Komar Alliance, LLC acquires paper converter, Pacific Paper Converting, Inc., dba Papercutters, to diversify its product offering and customer base. Komar Alliance is the largest independent distributor of sewing thread in the United States. Over the past several years, the company expanded its product line to include converted paper and packaging products specifically tailored to the garment industry. Pacific Paper Converting is a full-service converter which supplies paper products primarily to distributors selling to supermarkets, restaurants, bakery wholesalers and food manufacturing companies located in the Western U.S. The acquisition of Pacific Paper provided Komar the opportunity to diversify its paper converted products to food service and food manufacturing significantly reducing its exposure to the garment industry. The equipment and manufacturing processes between the two companies was remarkably similar which is expected to simplify the integration of Pacific Paper into Komar.
Pacific Paper Converting retained Dave Richards , President of Keystone Business Advisors, as its M&A advisor to negotiate a transaction with targeted group of strategic buyers. The founders and sisters, Susan Feinstein and Beth Thurber, had operated the company for over 40 years and were looking for an exit. “One of Susan’s and Beth’s goals was to transition the company to a party that would value their employees and keep them on after the sale. The continuance of the employees was especially important for Komar, especially with the tight labor market. This combined with basis that the company’s maintained a similar corporate culture and were physically close by made for a great fit,” stated Dave Richards of Keystone.
