(Van Nuys, CA)- Keystone Business Advisors recently announced that Van Nuys-based Automatic Sprinkler Controls (ASC), a landscape irrigation firm specializing in all aspects of irrigation design, installation and service for over 40 years has been acquired by Crestview Landscape, Inc. Crestview is a strategic buyer headquartered in Southern California who now has expanded their irrigation capabilities in addition to expanding their senior management team by hiring ASC’s owner to join their team.
“This process had to navigate a number of challenging issues from the time we went to market through closing. We decided to go to market during the slower holiday season in 2019. 2020 began the unfortunate COVID-19 period that everyone experienced in real-time and separately an unfortunate death in the family of the owner really challenged the Buyer and Seller to stay on track to close the transaction. It was important for the Seller to find a Buyer that understood and loved the business. He also had a goal to hopefully work post sale for the new company. We included in our marketing strategy a focus on top Southern California strategic companies. A cold call to the CEO of one of these companies was in the end the Buyer and who the Seller felt most comfortable with. This was a win-win for both parties with the relationship growing even stronger post sale”, said Greg Martin of Keystone Business Advisors.
ASC was originally founded around 1970 by the founding owners and began as a controller repair business. The business expanded into irrigation service and then installation working mainly for a single designer doing the irrigation design and installation. The current Seller purchased the business in 2006, further developing various aspects of the services to grow the business.
Automatic Sprinkler Controls, Inc. is a landscape irrigation firm specializing in all aspects of irrigation design, installation, and service. Additionally, they install landscapes as designed by landscape architects, landscape designers, or at the direction of homeowners. ASC’s primary work is related to sprinkler system installations and sprinkler repair. ASC’s customer base is 80% residential and 20% commercial.
